Pearles Specialty Cake Co. opened in the spring of 2004. Owner and Cake Designer Rebecca Bowlsby-Duncan always dreamed of bringing premier, edible art to Des Moines. She wanted to become something more than just a "cake decorator." So, learning her trade from nothing but sheer determination, she disovered that the possiblilities in sugar were endless and Pearles (named after her Grandmother Pearle) was created.

Rebecca believes every event needing a cake is extraordinary and puts her heart and soul into every cake and cookie she makes.  She looks at each one as an art piece and no two cakes are alike.  Each one is created to have its own originality and sense of character.

Rebecca's goal is to create works of art that are a rare combination of exceptional taste and exquisite artistry.

As a member of ICES, International Cake Exploration Societe, Rebecca plans to continue competing in cake competitions and going to pastry and sugar art shows so she is sure to keep up with all the new cake colors, flavors, techniques and trends!
